Studio Update  - Painting in Progress -  Oil painting 24 x 36 inches on linen canvas  in process hopefully finished by Monday.

This painting was begun on one of those perfect beach days, on the spot background and foreground painted in. Finishing now the details.  A very serene and bright day. This painting will make every one wish they were there shelling and taking in the sun.  With the current Gulf Oil Spill we are all holding our breath about these beaches.

Greetings Everyone, The oil spill breaks my heart. I love nature and I love the gulf coast where I was born and have lived for many years.  The mangroves, the birds, the fish, the crabs and hundreds of other living things in our eco-system are being harmed.     Nature is my life. I want to help...... Most of you know of my mission in painting and preserving all coastal areas around the world. I can help with your help. 25% of all purchases of paintings or prints from me will go to the Audubon Society’s fund to help rescue birds.  Have you been thinking of freshening your art collection or just want new prints for your walls NOW is a great time to go for it! The Bahamas Out Islands provide many places for your own private beach to spend the day. This is one of my favorites.  The morning clouds usually have a delicate pink in them which is perfect to paint from.  I have spent many days on this beach painting in perfect peace.

Original Oil Key West Storm Approaching by Phyllis O'Shields

Original Oil Painting on canvas 30 x 40 inches.


This painting was done on location before a hurricane reached shore. The emotion of incrediable cloud formations and the smell of an approaching storm was overwhelming.  The location here was being scouted for an outdoor painting workshop at a later date.

I paint many studies in Key West, living half of the year in Miami it is a short distance to drive down. I have many friends there and I am presently working diligently to educate and  point volunteers for the Sanctuary Friends of the Florida Keys http://www.sanctuaryfriends.org/   This group is vital for working with clean up days and now the oil spill approaching. Great articles and updated oil spill information on this site.

My mission as an artist as many of you know is to preserve these beautiful special places on the earth for future generations to enjoy.
