The colours change constantly, the intensity and brightness of the colour is very difficult to believe when translated to canvas.  I look forward to many more paintings of Tahiti capturing the mountains and water at different times of day. Seascape Panama City Beach II by Phyllis O'Shields

Paintings in this Panama City, Florida  Dunes Series are the first of three in a series. They are studies for very large paintings.  You can see in these  paintings sea oats, dunes fences and beautiful sugar white sand.  The most beautiful white sugar sand is in this area of beach.
These are common beach paths used for many years. Over the years the dunes in this particular area have become much smaller.  I will be adding paintings of beach areas where the dunes are very large later.  Development along this coast has destroyed much of the beach so it is really important to capture in paint the beaches as they are today and yesterday.
I spent most of my childhood here on this beach. My love for tropical settings and colours was initially inspired along this coast.

Painting inspired by to long a night at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville in Key West.  "Parrothead" is a nickname for myself and all the other  fans of Jimmy Buffet. The Jimmy Buffet music has touched the lives of millions around the world, spanning generations and genres.

Our general theme is relaxation even while working... In 2009 there were 273 chapters of Parrothead Clubs in the United States. (with $19 Million raised to support charitable organizations)
Parrotheads in Paradise, Inc (not for profit corporation)  is a network of Parrothead International Clubs working as a humanitarian network sharing information for mutual benefit.  Activities carried out are  charitable, educational, and promote the general welfare of the community. (while providing a variety of social activities for people who are interested in Jimmy Buffet and the tropical lifestyle he personifies.
 

Margaritaville represents true escapism - a state of mind.  Life is never a well conceived voyage but rather a wonderful voyage that we make up as we go along. Spending large amounts of time in Key West helps me to keep the  Margaritaville spirit  alive in my heart no matter where I  happen to be painting.   Beach music is a wonderful way of maintaining a Margaritaville state of mind.
